It is amazing how children innately want to be little helpers and it is wonderful to give them the opportunities to contribute to the world around them - even if it's as small as making a plate of peanut butter crackers. The smallest things make all the difference. Instead, I need to take action in the small seemingly insignificant changes that I can affect everyday. Often it's simply in not checking out, but rather responding differently that can make a difference both in my life and, God-willing, in the lives of others. Hope that the kids enjoyed the beans!mtuckeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14495265436261811584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109193074227675503.post-40653131868931479252012-07-03T07:45:22.689-04:002012-07-03T07:45:22.689-04:00This is great, Matt. I was so dreading the polarity of the upcoming political season (esp. in social media), but recently I've seen several sane posts and pleas from friends that, rather than narrowing the argument via fear, broaden the discussion in hopeful and meaningful ways - yours is one of them. I have to say that I believe this is what the gospels show Jesus doing time and time again - reframing tired discussions in a way that invited people to do the hard work of moving forward with hope and commitment. Now let me go do my part in changing the future health of america by convincing my children to pick and eat the green beans in our garden!kchripczukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15585289101589690551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109193074227675503.post-78779818933823993222012-06-26T13:23:33.678-04:002012-06-26T13:23:33.678-04:00Thank you, Matt! This really sums up what we do at Camp Koala-focusing our grief on positive times and creating lasting memories and talking about our loved ones, which is very healing. They don't paralyze me, they just gradually steer me away from what I need to do.

A little fear might prevent me from having a conversation that involves some conflict. Not having the conversation could create miscommunication problems. Resentment gradually builds.

Big fears are still hard too. But for me, it is the small sneaky fears that end up controlling my life and work if I am not constantly diligent.Marcus Goodyearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07255781957722144278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109193074227675503.post-2488914650175814832011-08-21T18:31:34.708-04:002011-08-21T18:31:34.708-04:00I love this!
